We're buying and selling your history. How we go about it is no mystery

In my international business class a couple weeks ago, we were discussing how many foreign-based companies produce things that Americans believe to be made by American owned companies. I piped up with the fact that we have a $8.5 TRILLION dollar national debt and while a lot of that is owed to U.S. based companies, a great portion of it is also owed to foreign countries/companies. So this begs the question, "What does America really own if we are in this much debt?" Hence, this cartoon:

I think it's a good idea to start teaching our kids Chinese... it'll give 'em a good head start in the future worlds economy....
